VAILLANT LIVE MURAL COMPETITION

This Autumn, Vaillant Live - the brand-new venue based in Derby city centre - is running a competition where one lucky artist’s mural design will be created and installed on the building itself for all to see. 

Derby’s new home of live events and entertainment wants artists from across the city to showcase their creative talent by producing a big, bold, colourful art piece that reflects Derby’s vibrant and exciting community. This competition is open to anyone - ranging from community projects and students, to more established artists. 

The winning design will be installed on two panels sized roughly 12500mm (w) x 6000mm (h) & 6950mm (w) x 6000mm (h) and will be displayed on the rear of the building on Becket Street.

What We Need From You:

We want you to design an original piece of art based around the theme of performance and community spirit. It should be big, bold, colourful and reflect Derby’s vibrant and exciting community.  

How To Enter:

Initially, we would like you to send your portfolio and/or examples of work, plus a short-written description of your concept for the mural to vaillantlivemural@eu.asmglobal.com. You have until 16th November 2025 to submit your portfolio and concept description.

Shortlisted entrants

We will shortlist five entries and give each person the opportunity to submit a draft of their potential design based on the initial brief - a big, bold, colourful art piece that reflects Derby’s vibrant and exciting community.  

Announcement of Winner

The winning design will be selected in February 2026, with the aim of officially unveiling it a few months later.

Prizes

All five artists shortlisted will each receive £100 and a pair of tickets to an event of their choose at Vaillant Live in 2026. Subject to availability.

The winner will not only have their design installed on the building for all to see, but will also receive a £500 cash prize and a special Vaillant Live Premium Experience package for 2026.
